Barbeque Polynese style

Well the barbeque was lovely and the setting on the beach magical. All the tables lit up with lamps and a beautiful star-lit night (have I mentioned we see the Southern star very clearly here – not something we will ever see at home!). There was a duo playing Polynesian music with a guitar and a yukele (the major Polynesian instrument) and that was very nice. Then a dance show that was obviously for the tourists, but good – the sort of thing you see from Hawaii – except for the two very young girls within the dance group doing lots of hip swaying and sensual dances that made us feel a bit uncomfortable. We excluded them from all photos for fear of having the camera confiscated at LA Airport! But apart from that, all very nice – flower garlands and grass skirts – the sort of thing that makes you want to start singing songs from South Pacific – although I’ve said that since we arrived.
